You don’t need to have a fleet of vehicles to justify researching an employee’s driving record. It’s a given that companies in the transportation business or those that have company vehicles should regularly pull employee driving records. An established safety record helps to minimize insurance premiums. An employee with too many incidents may increase premiums and pose a threat to public safety. But there’s also a benefit to screen those employees that are not driving company vehicles. A person’s DMV record can reveal a lot about how a person when you are excessive driving infractions and serious offenses like DWI’s and DUI’s (driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs).
